1st International Blueberries Course - Peru 2025
In just over a decade, Peru has built a strong blueberry industry, establishing itself as the leading global supplier. This blue berry has become the main export product in the country’s agricultural sector, reaching various countries worldwide.
The importance of this crop in Peru's agro-export portfolio and the goal of maintaining its competitiveness in international markets have been crucial factors in the partnership between Redagrícola and international advisor Sebastián Ochoa, to launch the International Blueberries Course Peru 2025. The course will take place on April 2, 3, and 4, 2025, and will include two days of in-person classes and a field day.
“Peru's growth has been impressive and explosive. It has been an incredible business," emphasizes Ochoa. However, this rapid expansion has also accelerated certain aspects of the cultivation process. “For example, in some cases, the rush to produce as quickly as possible has led to the use of suboptimal genetics or technology. That’s the key difference. There has been learning, but there is still significant room for improvement," he adds.
With over two decades of experience in blueberry cultivation, Sebastián Ochoa has become the most respected advisor in the global blueberry sector, currently consulting in 17 countries across five continents. This extensive knowledge and expertise will be the focus of the international course, where Ochoa will be joined by a group of national and international specialists in various fields.
The first two days will feature in-person classes at the Sheraton Lima Historic Center, while the field day on April 4 will take place at Agrícola Don Ricardo in Ica. “This company is a benchmark for Peru’s agroindustry. It is a significant and successful business that works with cutting-edge technology. At different stations during the field day, participants will gain insights into various management practices and technologies that are essential for achieving a successful crop," Ochoa explains.
