1st International Blueberries Course - Mexico 2025
"Blueberry has made a significant leap in Mexico in recent years. An increase in area, accompanied by large productions, is positioning the country as an important player in Latin America.
The importance of this crop in Mexico's agro-export portfolio and the goal for it to continue expanding have been key factors for Redagrícola, in collaboration with international advisor Sebastián Ochoa, to partner and launch the Mexico 2025 International Blueberries Course, que se realizará los días 24, 25 y 26 de junio de 2025, y que incluirá dos días de clases presenciales y un día de campo.
For Ochoa, Mexico's growth has been spectacular in recent years. However, this has led to an acceleration of cultivation processes, which has caused some farms to not employ the most suitable technology or the most appropriate genetics for developing the crop in different regions of the country.
"Although there has been a learning process, there is still much room for improvement," adds the expert, who has worked with this crop for over two decades," becoming the most respected advisor in the global blueberry sector, currently providing advice in 17 countries across five continents.
His successful professional career began in the late nineties at Berries Patagonia, which at the time was the largest producer of blueberries in the Southern Hemisphere, holding various positions until becoming the company's manager. Between 2013 and 2016, he worked at Sun Belle, managing the company's orchards. Since 2016, he has worked as an independent advisor, providing intense advisory services in 17 countries across five continents.
"In this course, we will address and analyze common and transversal topics in the development of the blueberry industry," explains Ochoa about the course, which will provide attendees with the key tools to understand and learn about the crop, and gain advanced management concepts for blueberry production.
Los dos primeros días se realizarán clases presenciales en el Hard Rock Hotel de Guadalajara, mientras que el día 26 de junio se realizará un día de campo en Giddings Berries, en Ciudad Guzmán, "where at different stations we will be able to learn about the various management practices and technologies, key to ensuring a successful crop," Ochoa explains.
